Dear Resident
We have received the following information from Durham County Council.
As you are probably aware by now, we have some upcoming hot weather in the forecast this next week and thought it would be useful to you as community group reps to share this information with your wider community just for awareness.
The heat is forecast to build on Sunday and peak on Monday and Tuesday (high 20s, maybe mid 30s in places to the south of us) with warm nights and very hot days. The hottest weather is in the south east of England, however our patch will still see hot days and warm nights.
There is a level 3 heatwave alert in force from Saturday to Tuesday which you can view online here https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/heat-health/?tab=heatHealth&season=normal You will also find links to useful information and top tips on this page.
There is also an amber weather warning for extreme heat from Sunday to Tuesday (it extends as far north as the south of Darlington). Even outside of this warning area it will be very hot with warm nights. You can keep up to date with the forecast and warnings on the Met Office website here: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/

This is just to give you a heads up that there is some severe weather on its way (it’s strange sending this warning when it’s about heat…it’s normally rain or wind!)
