A resident recently emailed the parish council concerned that they had missed their bus to work as the number 28 bus missed going through High Handenhold on several occasions. The Parish Council contacted Go North East and asked for an explanation as to why the bus had missed out High Handenhold. This is their response-
Thank you for your patience while we investigated the concerns raised regarding service 28 missing High Handenhold.
Our Operations Team has now reviewed the dates and times provided and can confirm the following:
- On 22nd March 2026, the service operated through High Handenhold at approximately 13:23, around 3 minutes behind schedule.
- On 19th April 2026, the final Sunday service through High Handenhold operated at approximately 17:21, around 1 minute late.
In relation to the incident on 5th April 2026, our investigation found that the service did unfortunately miss High Handenhold. After speaking with the control team, they mention that from January until 20th March there was a diversion on the services 28 & 29 while MGN installed a new gas supply. The last time the driver drove this service was on the morning of 20th when the service was still a diversion. There is a chance that the driver has believed that the diversion was still in place as he seems to have followed the diversion that was routed at the time.We appreciate the frustration and inconvenience this would have caused to passengers travelling from High Handenhold and apologise for the disruption experienced.
