Dear Resident,
Following on from a request from a resident for the underpass at Pelton opposite The RAOB Club in Pelton to be updated- this project has been taken forward by Chris Clark of Heart Remind.
The Project Leader, Chris Clark is working hard to put everything in place taking into account any feedback received about the project.
The subway has to be painted first by a company who specialises in removing the anti graffiti coating which is put on after this type of work has been carried out. They will then paint it over in a white paint which will be a blank canvas for the new art to be put on. Once the new art has been painted on they will return to put on an anti-graffiti coat.
Chris has listened to the feedback from the resident who originally contacted the Parish Council about updating the underpass. The resident has asked for the outside of the underpass to not have any art on and for it to remain white.
Pelton Youth Project and the Immediate Justice Team will be working on the project (with the children who will be over 11) but at separate times. The artwork will start on the morning of 28th May 2024 and should be completed by Thursday teatime (30th May 2024).
The roadside of the underpass will be for the Immediate Justice Team to work on and the opposite side will be worked on by the Room 14 young people.
The murals will be themed as follows-
Angel wings, Nature plants and leaves, a Coast 2 Coast Mural, Welcome to Pelton Mural, Nature stencils, War Memorial and Poppies, coal mining, Parish Council logo.
Chris has advised that the designs are negotiable so if you have any suggestions, please let us know.
Traffic management for the pedestrians will be in place during the time the work is taking place.
If you have any questions about the project please contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance on 07912688050 or clerk@peltonparishcouncil.gov.uk
