Dear Resident

On 16th December 2021 the newly installed Memorial Bench on Brackenbeds Lane had an ‘Official Opening Ceremony’ by local school children. Children from the Pelton Community Primary School Council gave up some of their party day to officially open the bench and Calvin-John who was celebrating his birthday cut the red ribbon. Cllr Mick Simpson helped Calvin- John cut the ribbon. Mr John Charlton who as the landowner of where the seat is located kindly gave permission for the new seat to be installed attended the ceremony. School Teacher, Mrs Rachel Duncan said ‘This morning our school council had the pleasure of opening a wonderful bench in our local community. The bench is situated just around the corner from our school and was donated by the parish council for all our local people to enjoy on their walks around our local area. It was our first outing as a school council this year and we are happy to have been a part of something so wonderful.’

Thank you to the School Council members and your teachers, Mrs Julie Short and Mrs Rachel Duncan for bringing you along. The Parish Council hope that local residents enjoy the newly installed seat as somewhere to watch the world go by.

Mr John Charlton (L), School Council children and Cllr Mick Simpson (R), Vice Chair of Pelton Parish Council.
