Dear Resident,

Since Norman started working at Pelton Parish Council as a Litter Picker on 4th November 2020 he has been out and about working hard to keep our parish clean in all weathers.

Norman has recently retired from the role and will be a big miss. We presented Norman with gifts prior to the parish council meeting last night to thank him for his dedication to the role.

Norman litter picked on average 9 bags a week which taking into account annual leave would be 423 bags a year. Over 5 years that would equal 2115 bags. If the average bag weight was 4kg then that would equate to collecting 8460kg of litter off our streets.

That’s the equivalent weight to collecting 2 of the largest land mammals on earth- the African Bush Elephant. It’s also the equivalent of the weight of 7 Volkswagen Polos. So a lot of litter! Thank you Norman, we wish you well in your future endeavours.
